slab library

All the slabs that are shown here are unique pieces that are immediately available. We show the bigger slabs that are intended for making tables. None of the slabs hereby shown will be cut to smaller pieces, because I consider it a pity. Although some of the slabs might seem in a more rough state then others, after shaving and sanding, they will all have a perfect flat, beautiful and clear top.

All the slabs are of very high quality; they were first air dried and after kiln (oven) dried. They will not crack nor work when used as table tops. Cracks and similar gaps can be resolved with butterfly joints and cleaned up while finishing as shown in the picture below.

The slabs below are shown in pairs because they came from the same log which allows us to book match them. Book matching of slabs mean that you take two slabs that followed up each other in the same log (while cutting) and open them up like a book afterwards. This results in an effect were the drawing of the wood pattern on both slabs is like a mirror reflection of the other. This creates beautiful symmetrical table tops.

Another advantage of slab matching is that we can make impressive wide tables that look astonishing. On the left an example of a book matched table with smaller pieces of ash.

The dimensions of each piece are written under the accompanying figure. The dimensions are given for only one slab but since they are symmetrical the same apply to the other.  To know the maximal width of a table you must multiply the given width by two.
