Brown ash is similar to white ash in almost every aspect except the color. As revealed by their names, the former is darker brown compared to the more light color of the latter.The difference between hardwood and sapwood is more highlighted which can create interesting contrast when combining the two. The wood is hard and heavy with very good strength properties. This allows ash to be a good wood type for indoor furniture. Ash doesn't do so well as furniture outdoor except when very well protected.
